God knew about this past year, you know?
He already knew. He knew it was coming.
What if this is the year He has been waiting for, as the world's pivoting point; all along? Praying harder than ever before for the lessons He hopes to see His children embrace.
What if, this is the year He has been praying will bring forth more than just the one-in-ten? The year He pleads for His children to delve into gratitude more than ever before? In the simple. In the ordinary. In the miracles. Returning to Him with moment-by-moment praise; seeking the blessings-in-the-everyday; rather than waiting for the big moments to fall upon us?
What if, this is the year He hoped to find more Marys emerge, in a world overflowing with the likeness of Marthas? More of His beloved children using this borrowed time to slow down and sit at His feet? Immersed in His words? Secretly pleading for His children to practice being still. Practice renewing their relationship with Him, and those who matter the most to each of us, amidst this world.
What if, this is the year the entire world fell into the Lion's den? The year He is wishfully hoping and praying with His entire being, that the incessant prayers of His sons and daughters below, will join the hearts of the world together enough, to simultaneously pull itself out? Neighbor helping neighbor. Brother helping sister. Everyday heroes emerging with each new dawn. Kindness overcoming hatred. The light of His children so unbelievably powerful; the thickness of the enemy's darkness, doesn’t stand a chance of dimming the fire burning deep within the world’s soul.
What if, this is the year of the greatest storm of all? The year He is preparing to teach each of His children the power of walking on water? Trusting Him amidst the overwhelming fear of absolutely drowning. In anxiety. In uncertainty. In doubt. Ceaselessly holding His hand out, amidst the storm, until we finally learn to grab a hold and walk straight forward; eyes fixated on Him, directly into His unconditional arms.
What if, this is the year the world pulled together to turn five loaves and two fish into neighbors helping neighbors; strangers helping strangers; honoring everyday heroes? Sharing. Giving. Taking upon ourselves, our brothers’ and sisters’ burdens. Multiplying. Helping one another in ways we never thought imaginable.
What if, this is the year He is looking down upon the brokenness of the world, as He heals, wishing for His children to dig deeper than ever for those hidden blessings? The everyday treasures always present before our very eyes; when we just slow down enough to discover and appreciate them. The tiniest of moments, with the greatest value of all.
God knew about this past year, you know?
He already knew. He knew it was coming.
The year of redemption. The year of beauty from ashes. The year of disconnecting. Only to reconnect, better than ever before. The year of unmasking the world. To get to the root of our true selves. Like never before.
What if, this is the year God demonstrates that He is big enough to shatter all of our finite expectations and abundantly provide for our needs? If only, we can learn to humbly, faithfully and fully, rely on Him?
What if...
