Three of my a.b.s.o.l.u.t.e. favorite things about blogging…
~when someone comments on a post; how it touched them, how much they could relate, how “from the heart” and well-written it was
~when someone finds my writing worthy enough to share with others; whether it happens on a Facebook page, another blog or some other outlet, it makes my heart skip-a-beat to know that someone else thought it was that valuable
~getting to know other bloggers…I have been beyond lucky to have made some very special friends; friends that I have never met in person, but who take their time each day to support, comment, respond, guide…through everything. Friends from across the nation. And the world. Amazing!
One of those special friends is Anne from Love the Here and Now. I stumbled upon her blog a few weeks ago, and in reading through her posts, I realized how much we had in common. We clicked instantly! I think we both agree that if we knew each other in the “real world”, we would definitely be friends. She has been a huge support “behind the scenes”, and I appreciate that more than she may even know. On Monday, she surprised me with an email letting me know she was tagging me in the “Tour Through Blogland“, and I was beyond grateful to accept.
So, here is your official tour through the backstage of “Simply Complex Mom”…
What am I working on?
~Can I be honest? My mind never stops. I have a list of ideas going all the time. I have 3-4 posts in progress, and as the thoughts enter into my mind, I jot down notes…on the site/computer, on a Post-It note, on a piece of construction paper; whatever is handy! Most of my posts come from experiences as a woman, and more specifically, a mom. I try to write posts that I know will be relevant in others’ lives. That create those “Thank you!” “Yes! and “I needed to hear this!” moments for those who need it most.
How does my work differ from others in its genre?
~I am really not quite sure how I would classify my blog. Most definitely on the inspirational side. Meant to encourage. To cheer on all the amazing woman and mothers trying to survive the criticisms, judgments, hardships and blessings that sprinkle our lives. I feel like my writing is different in that I go more personal. Honest. I want my readers to know that they are not alone. Everyone has downfalls. Areas of need. Weaknesses. And I am no different. I am happy to share. To support. To cheer on all the incredible woman and amazing mothers who make our world go-round.
Why do I write/create what I do?
~Plain and simply, I l.o.v.e. to write. It is an outlet for me. To share. I love to reach out to others and give in whatever way I can, and I believe that sharing my stories and offering encouragement in a way to which others can relate, is just one more way that I can give. I write for my daughters. I want them to have a strong example of a woman and mother who is ambitious. Who wants to make a difference in the world. I hope that one day, they will look back on what I have written and read it with great pride.
How does your writing/creative process work?
~Oh goodness, friends. I am not sure there is a certain “process”. For me, I have started to “live” my life as a writer. I might take an afternoon outside…hours-upon-hours of playing, and one little thing will stick out to me. A spark with ignite, and I will run to grab some paper and markers (pretty fancy, huh?!), and away I write. Maybe a lesson learned for one of my daughters. Or the fact that I could not “lose myself” because of “real-life” craziness whispering in my ear…tugging at my shirt. One way that I might differ from other bloggers is that I don’t plan out my posts. Maybe I will get to that point, but more often than not, the posts are inspired by day-to-day experiences, and I work on sharing them as they occur in my own life. As they are fresh in my mind.
Your next stops?!
